Commercial Project Profile
Support Works Housing – New Clay House II
Client: Support Works Housing
Location: Richmond, VA
Completion: July 2019
Tiger Solar partnered with Support Works Housing, a nonprofit focused on providing permanent supportive housing solutions, to deliver a solar installation for New Clay House II in Richmond, Virginia. New Clay House II is a smaller-scale supportive housing community designed to provide stable, long-term housing in a more intimate residential setting, complementing larger developments like Cool Lane Commons. With a focus on both functionality and thoughtful design, the project reflects a mission-driven approach to creating safe, supportive living environments. The integration of solar energy supports this vision by enhancing building performance and contributing to a more sustainable and resilient community, demonstrating how solar can be effectively scaled across a range of multi-family housing types.
The installation includes a 54.45-kilowatt rooftop system comprised of 165 modules paired with 3 inverters. Designed for a multi-family supportive housing environment, the system was engineered to maximize rooftop production while aligning with the building’s structural and operational needs.
The completed installation at New Clay House II supports a more sustainable and resilient community for residents while contributing to the building’s overall energy efficiency. By integrating renewable energy into supportive housing, the project helps create a healthier living environment and enhances long-term building performance. It also reflects a broader commitment to thoughtful, sustainable development – demonstrating how solar can play a meaningful role in strengthening communities and supporting mission-driven housing initiatives.
