Our Story

’05

Altenergy Solar (now Tiger Solar) began operating in a small garage in Charlottesville, Virginia.

’11

We opened a branch in Boise, Idaho, expanding our solar footprint to the Pacific Northwest.

’13

A new crew in Staunton, Virginia began guiding residents to get power from the sun.

’15

An area ripe for solar energy – our nation’s capital! Our team expanded to Washington, D.C.

’16

Our largest project to date! We installed a 500kW system at a manufacturing plant in Crozet, Virginia.

’18

We partnered with Tiger Fuel Company, a fuel distributor in Charlottesville, Va., with 40 years of experience, to solar power two of their gourmet-to-go convenience stores, The Market at Preston and The Market at Ruckersville. Our solar systems supply more than half of each facility’s electrical needs and mark a pivotal step in helping a local fossil fuel company reduce their carbon footprint.

’19

Inspired to return to his roots, former Tiger Chad Becker opened a branch in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

’21

We joined forces with Tiger and made significant investments in our people, our equipment and our long-term sustainability. With the same local people and exceptional, high-quality service, we transitioned to a new name, Tiger Solar.

Powering a Brighter Future. Together.

We look forward to continuing to execute all projects with the same brilliance, professionalism and leadership in each market we serve, and providing our customers with additional flexibility and technology offerings to save money with solar.
